In mid 2020 I did several exercises seeking self-knowledge. On one of these practices, alone and locked in my studio, I spent a good amount of time listening to the electroacoustic song “Di-Stances (1982)” by Vânia Dantas Leite, which caused, among other sensations, absurd anguish. I moved in various ways, externalizing the agony I felt with that sound that filled the environment. This performance emerged from that torture-like experience when I replaced the song with sound effects. It was an intense and painful process that was, ultimately, very rewarding.
